What do we do when life doesn't turn out the way we expected? How do we see the loss of a friend or a child as a blessing? When a job is uncertain or a family is falling apart or a loved one is dying- where is God in all of that? Why doesn't He just come down and "fix" all of the worlds problems??
Have you ever asked these questions? I have....many times.
I believe that He can fix the suffering of this life and I believe that some day He will. He has already fulfilled a part of that promise in the offering of His Son as a sacrifice....He HAS paved the way for us that one day the sufferings of this life will end for eternity.
So what until that time?
I have found that for myself my perspective is pivotal in how I see all things. Some of the difficult things Dominic and I have been through could be viewed negatively...and rightly so in some aspects. But when I focus instead on how we have grown, how we have seen our family and extended families benefit from our trials....why would I want to change that? The last 9 months apart would have never been possible if we hadn't first grown in faith together through many, many trials.
So friends, what blessing are you seeing today as struggle? Give the trial to God and let Him show you the blessings He has in store for you. They are there....
"Blessings"
We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things
Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
And we cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe
Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
And what if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know the pain reminds this heart
That this is not, this is not our home
Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy
And what if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are Your mercies in disguise
James 1:2-4 2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
